5 Digestive Benefits Of Apple Cider Vinegar

5 digestive benefits of apple cider vinegar and that’s just the tip of the iceberg. Apple cider vinegar (ACV) has tons of health benefits to its name and lots of different ways to use it but in this video I’m concentrating on the digestive benefits.

  • ACV balances the PH of the body, in other words it helps alkalise the system.
  • ACV stimulates the production of digestive enzymes and bile, which aids in digestion.
  • ACV stimulates peristalsis, which helps move food and waste products within the intestines.
  • ACV helps detoxify the liver.
  • ACV boosts the gut flora, aka friendly bacteria.

When buying ACV you need to keep a few things in mind, the label should read “raw, organic, unfiltered and contains the mother”. The mother is the sediment that is visible at the end of the bottle and contains protein strands, enzymes and friendly bacteria.

Best taken first thing in the morning on an empty stomach, put 1tsp. up to 1 tbsp of ACV in a tall glass of luke warm water, drink and wait 15 mins before having your breakfast. You may also take ACV before each meal to encourage good digestion BUT make sure not to exceed 1-2 tbsp in total a day. it’s best to drink the ACV mix through a straw as the acid may damage the enamel on the teeth, if you want to be extra cautious rinse your mouth directly afterwards with a mixture of bicarbonate of soda (1/2 tsp in water) and this will neutralise the acid.

People suffering from arthritic or muscular pain may find ACV too acidic as it can amplify the pain, they would be better off to alkalise their diet first for a few weeks before introducing the ACV.
