Food Mood Connection Part 2

Food mood connection part 2 takes you a little deeper into the process of identifying which foods work with your body and with work against it. Today I’m concentrating on the food that makes you feel alive and ready to take on the world. Normally when people find out that a certain food doesn’t suit their body they go into a spin because they feel that their diet is going to be limited or restricted, honestly this couldn’t be further from the truth! There is a wealth of different foods out their to choose from, most people stick to the same types of foods and today I’m asking you to step it up, get adventurous and start adding new foods into your diet.

My body loves a plant based diet, my diet is vegan about 90 – 95% of the time, I feel alive, energetic and vibrant when I eat this way, if I eat foods that don’t suit me, I can feel my body slow down, my mood gets lower, my brain function becomes sluggish or scattered and in general I just feel yuck!

If you find a certain food doesn’t suit you, it may not mean that you have to cut that food out completely or for ever (although sometimes you might), you may just need to reduce the amount you are taking in or you may need to cut it out completely for a few week, let the body reboot and then eat only small amounts of it moving forward. If you have an intolerance or allergy to certain foods go out and find alternatives like nut milk, quinoa, buckwheat, spelt, rye, the list is endless!

Also observe your diet, is the way you feeling due to the combination of the wrong foods, it may not be the amount of a certain food, it may be that you are eating a combination of acid forming foods that is overloading your system and causing your body to struggle. The best piece of advice I can give you is to increase your plant intake and include lots of variety (veggies, fruits, grains, proteins etc).

Finally aim for foods that make you feel energetic, clear thinking, alive, happy, balanced. Foods that help you get up in the morning feeling fantastically vibrant, rather than rolling out of the bed feeling absolutely wretched! The choice is yours.
