Ceremonial Cacao

Have you ever heard of Ceremonial Cacao? I was introduced to it about 10 months ago and it has been my constant companion since. It is amazing for healing traumas of the heart such as grief, loss, heartbreak and issues with self-love. It helps to heal, balance and open the heart to love, not just giving and receiving love but more importantly self-love. Most of us are taught to love and give to others but not to ourselves. Self-love is often mistaken as selfish or vain, when in fact it is vital for your health, wellness and life in general. I find Ceremonial Cacao amazing for deepening my meditation, for allowing me to be in a space of love even in challenging situations and for healing my heart of old hurts. I love sharing anything that has a positive impact on my emotional wellbeing. Having suffer from anxiety and depression for years I know how debilitating it can be and in the current climate we need all the help we can get to stay positive and heart centred.

About ten minutes after drinking it (can be longer for some people) I feel a warmth in my heart, then a surge of love through out my body that lasts for hours. I feel heart centred, kind, compassionate and empathetic towards myself and others. I honestly believe if we all introduced Ceremonial Cacao into our daily lives we would see less conflict, separation and hatred in the world…just my two cents!

What is Ceremonial Cacao?

Ceremonial Cacao is Cacao in its purest form, aka minus all the processing we are used to seeing with conventional chocolate. It is considered a sacred plant medicine by the indigenous people in central/south America. Ideally it is grown with the intention of being used ceremonially. With this in mind it is produced by people that consciously hold the intention of love and deep respect for the spirit of the plant while moving through the process of plant, to bean, to block. And it is a highly skilled, sacred technique. When buying ceremonial grade cacao always look for organic, ethically produced cacao. Keep in mind that if the people producing it are being treated unfairly this energy will be absorbed by the plant.

Cacao means “food of the gods”.

Superfood

It has also been used for its myriad of health benefits. Pure Cacao has shown to be one of the healthiest foods we can consume. It’s been traditionally used to support women’s postpartum recovery and it contains about 40 times more antioxidants than blueberries for starters.

IRON: Cacao has the highest natural source of iron, much more than red meat. Cacao is therefore perfect for a vegan diet which usually lacks in iron. Iron also energises your body, boosts your immune system and helps with concentration.

THEOBROMINE: Theobromine can be a longer lasting, milder, and more pleasant, softer energy source over caffeine without a spike or crashes in energy. Ideal if you are looking for a coffee replacement!

MAGNESIUM: As one of the highest plant-based sources of magnesium, cacao keeps your heart and brain healthy and gives you clarity and focus.

ZINC: Zinc promotes a healthy nervous and immune system.

PHOSPHORUS: A mineral is that supports healthy bones and teeth.

ANTIOXIDANTS: Cacao is the highest antioxidant food in the world Antioxidants improve blood flow and slows ageing!

Consciousness of Love

Ceremonial Cacao holds within it the consciousness of LOVE! What on earth does this even mean? Well, it contains chemicals that stimulates very high vibrational/emotional reactions within the body.

It contains Tryptophan which is an amino acid that assists our body in producing Serotonin, the neurotransmitter involved in mood regulation (it’s a feel good hormone), social behaviour, digestion, sleep, memory, and sexual function. It also contains

It also contains Phenylethylamine (PEA), a chemical that increases dopamine secretion in our bodies. Dopamine (aka the love chemical), like serotonin, is a neurotransmitter but with slightly different functions. Dopamine plays a significant role in the feelings of pleasure and reward, attentiveness, memory, motivation, and sleep. It is the PEA in cacao that contributes to the ‘love high’ we receive from it, and can mimic the feeling we get when we are in love.

Benefits of Ceremonial Cacao

From my experience Ceremonial Cacao is extremely high vibrational. It holds the consciousness of love, bliss, joy, kindness, compassion, empathy, forgiveness and freedom.

Ceremonial cacao helps the heart to heal from emotional trauma and find balance once again so that we can open up to life’s experiences. It increases our capacity for self-love, and giving and receiving love. In fact the action of preparing and drinking Ceremonial Cacao is an act of self-love in itself. Because it is a high vibrational plant medicine it helps us to move lower vibrational emotions/trauma out of the body/energy system. And it enables us to become more aware of our emotions, conditioning, behavioural patterns, limiting beliefs, misaligned values and addictions. The wisdom of the plant helps us to clarify our place in the world, connects us with nature and our higher selves.

Other benefits:

  • Deepens our intuition.
  • Guides us in making heart centred connections and decisions.
  • Ignites our creativity (music, art, poetry, business etc).
  • Energises the body.
  • Awakens our imagination.
  • Creates a feeling of things slowing down.
  • Strengthens our connection to our ancestors.
  • Helps us to make decisions from our heart space rather than from the head.
  • Very grounding.
  • Brings us into the present moment.
  • Quietens the monkey mind and enhances concentration and focus.
